5 tool softball program

5 Tool is happy to announce a development program for girls looking to hone their skills for their upcoming softball season.  This Winter Program will run from Mid-February thru the end of April.  All aspects of the game will be covered in a team environment; skills such as throwing, pitching, hitting, fielding, catching and base running.  We at 5 Tool want provide a fun, yet structured environment for our athletes that will prepare them for their upcoming season with their respective team and association, and also assist in their pursuit of post secondary opportunities.

The Softball Program is an after school program available to young woman in the Greater Edmonton Area.  It will run 2 days a week out of 5 Tool Fieldhouse.  Our facility is a multi-use facility equipped with about 5,000 SQFT of turf and 4 cages that can be varied to suit the needs of our programs, instructors and athletes.  We also have an in house gym, for those athletes looking to take their games to the next level with strength training that will be designed specifically for their athletic needs.

As an added note, 5 Tool will look to expand on this program later in the year.  We will be offering a full winter program starting in September and continuing to the end of April.  Cost will change due to the length of the program, but we will always strive to provide economical value to our athletes and families.  Stay tuned for more information about the 2020-2021 Winter Program.

The 5 Tool Softball Program will be lead by Bryn Redhead.  Bryn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the game of softball.  He has played in multiple National Championships while representing Alberta, as well as playing for Canada in the Pan American Qualifier in 2018. Bryn attended Rainy River Community College (NJCAA) for 2 years before transferring to Graceland University (NAIA) for his final 2 years.  He currently plays for the Grande Prairie Pirates and other various teams on the International Circuit.  Bryn has been coaching for the past 6 years, and as an offensive and defensive player, he is excited to pass on what he has learned to the participants of the program.

Blaire Taylor will be assisting Bryn.  Blaire played most of her career in Alberta where she participated in  Provincial and National Championships with Team Alberta, as well as the Western Canadian Summer Games and Canadian Summer Games.  She continued her post-secondary career for Seward County College (NJCAA) and then Friends University (NAIA) before turning her attention to coaching.  She has been coaching for the past 9 years, is CANpitch Certified, and currently pursuing her level 3 Coaching Certification.

Bryn and Blaire both believe in helping each athlete reach their true potential both on and off the field by building a positive and inclusive environment.  The goal is to help build better athletes, but most of all better people; which is a consistent philosophy within 5 Tool's programs. The coaches will help prepare their players for the upcoming season both physically and mentally, as well as aid them in their pursuit of playing high level softball in Canada or internationally.  More coaches will be added depending on the number of athletes to ensure a good coach to player ratio.

We at 5 Tool understand that programs need to be affordable to parents and families.  That is why we try and create as many options for our participants to chose from.  In this 2 and a half month program we will be running indoor sessions twice a week, as well as offering strength and conditioning options, and spring game options.  Indoor sessions will run on Monday evenings (7:00-10:00pm) and Saturday mornings (7:00-9:00am).  The focus will be individual skill development while creating a team structure and environment.

Spring games will be an option to families looking to get a head start on their upcoming season.  Scheduled games will more than likely take place in April, and are weather and participation dependent.  If we don't have enough girls at an age level to play, then we will have to explore different options.  Games will be a pay as you play system and will not be included in the Program Fees.  Price will be determined by the amount of travel families and coaches which to partake in.  More information about games will be available as it becomes available.

Strength and Conditioning is something that we are wanting to offer our athletes.  We are currently looking for a S & C Trainer who will be heading the Academy Program.

We will be looking to expand every part of this program in the fall of 2020 and throughout the winter & spring of 2021.
